ندعو الأمم المتحدة للتحقيق بشأن الاهتزازات التي تحدث في جنوب لبنان

بعد تكرار الاهتزازات التي يتعرض لها جنوب لبنان وخاصة في المنطقة الواقعة بين جنوب الليطاني وصور والتي تجاوزت بحسب وكالات الأنباء الثماني مئة اهتزاز في الثلاثة أشهر الأخيرة وقدرت قوتها بين درجتين إلى ثلاث درجات بمقياس ريختر للهزات الأرضية، ينظر المجلس العالمي لثورة الارز بقلق لهذه الظاهرة التي تتكرر في نفس المنطقة والتي أدت إلى تصدع المنازل وهلع المواطنين وهو يرى بأن هذه المنطقة تتبع أمنيا لقوات الأمم المتحدة وبالتالي تعتبر تحت مسؤولية مجلس الأمن من هنا يرفع المجلس قلقه إلى الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة للقيام بالأمور التالية:

- أولا: التأكد أن هذه الهزات هي من مصدر جيولوجي وليست ناتجة عن أي نوع آخر من الأعمال الإنسانية.

- ثانيا: التأكد من أن حزب الله أو غيره من القوى الفاعلة في المنطقة لا تقوم بأعمال حفر الخنادق أو المخازن والتفجير تحت الأرض في الأماكن التي تحدث فيها هذه الاهتزازات.

- ثالثا: التأكد من أن هذه المنطقة خالية من الإشعاعات الناتجة عادة عن تجارب نووية أو ما شابه والتي قد تكون إيران أو غيرها تجريها في أفضل منطقة محمية لمثل هذا النوع من التجارب.

إن المجلس العالمي لثورة الأرز إذ يؤكد أن المجتمع المدني في كل لبنان هو همه الأساسي يطلب من الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أخذ هذا الموضوع بالجدية المطلوبة وتكليف من يلزم للتأكد من أن حياة السكان المدنيين وبيوتهم وأملاكهم في هذه المنطقة ليست معرضة للخطر وأن هذه المنطقة لن تكون مسرحا لعمليات وأخطار من نوع جديد تؤدي إلى تشريد وتهجير ومزيد من المآسي

WCCR calls on the United Nations to ascertain the causes of the earthquakes which have taken place in southern Lebanon., fear of Iranian weapons testing

Washington July 8th, 2008

The World Council of the Cedars Revolution (WCCR) calls on the United Nations to ascertain the causes of the earthquakes which have taken place in southern Lebanon.

The occurrences of the earthquakes which have rocked southern Lebanon and in particular the region which is set between south of the Litani River and the city of Tyre and which has suffered several hundreds of such earth movements over the last three months with a Richter Scale rating of between two and three degrees.

The World Council of the Cedars Revolution (WCCR) is extremely concerned with these activities which are occurring in this region and which have caused the destruction of many residences and the eviction of many families.

It should be stated that the area in question is in the region which is under the security and control of the UNIFIL, as such it is from this view that the WCCR raises its concerns to the Secretary General of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) with regards to the following issues;

1-To determine as a matter of fact that these earth movements are a result of geological activities and are not man made.

2- To determine as a matter of fact that Hezbollah or any other force active in the area, are not carrying out any excavations for tunnels and or storage areas which are taking place under the disguise of what might be perceived to be earthquakes.

3- To determine as a matter of fact that this region is not being subject, as rumours would indicate, that there could be the carrying out of nuclear testing by Iran who might view this to be a safe haven for such developments.

The World Council of the Cedars Revolution wants to ensure that the civil society throughout Lebanon whose primary concern is to call on the Secretary General of the UNSC to take this matter seriously and employ whatever is required to ascertain that the lives of the people of this region and their homes and properties are not subjected to such dangers; and that this region will not become a field of new and dangerous operations which will cause devastation, displacement of residents and an increase in their sufferings.
