Press release from the:
Guardians of the Cedars -
National Lebanese Movement
Central Directorate. (18/1/2000)

In regards to the official Lebanese position towards the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, the Party of the Guardians of the Cedars-National Lebanese Movement issued the following communiqué:
When the Lebanese-Palestinian war broke out in 1975, the government fell apart. the army collapsed and most of Lebanon's politicians sided with "Abu Ammar" racing with each other to win his favors. We were forced with our allies of the Lebanese Resistance to build a substitute army and confront the armed Palestinians in several battles. We called on the authorities to expel them out of our country and advocated the  "There will not remain a single Palestinian on Lebanese soil" slogan..
Lebanese mercenary Politicians tagged us with extremism, isolationism, chauvinism and other repugnant names. Now, after 25 years of hibernation, they woke up and became suddenly aware the Palestinian presence dangers. They unanimously agreed to refuse their naturalization, besieged their camps and began to chase those among them wanted for justice. It took them a quarter of a century to recognize the dangers after thousands of elite patriotic Lebanese youth were killed and many other thousands wounded and disabled while fighting the Palestinians as a substitute to the Lebanese army and Security Forces.
In 1976, when the Syrian Army invaded Lebanon under the disguise of enforcing peace, we confronted it and demanded-and never ceased to demand- its withdrawal. Once more we were accused with extremism, treason and mercenenariness.  Lebanese courts were used to issue try us in absentia and issue harsh fabricated verdicts against us.
In the meantime, most of the Lebanese politicians side with the occupants,  serve their interests, fulfill their desires and brainwash public's opinion to accept them. They gave up everything in the hope of gaining a ministerial portfolio or an official position. They did not honor dignity, interests or feelings of the Lebanese people.
We feel time for change has come and truth will be unveiled. We wonder how these politicians will cope with the new order of law and justice. We wonder how the people should deal with them after a quarter of a century treacherous conduct during which they inflicted horrible disasters on both the nation and the people. How they are going to deal with the patriots' sacrifices offered on Verity's and Lebanon's altar!
When we warned against the danger of Iranian fanaticism in Lebanon, and resisted it alongside with our allies in the noble Lebanese Resistance, they raised hell against us. The Lebanese government heaped all sorts of abuses against our members and plotted to harm us. It used every means of coercion against our relatives on the checkpoints... And as usual, our politicians outbid each other in backing these fanatic groups, despite the fact that deep in their hearts they knew that this scourge is no less dangerous on the Lebanese identity and people than the Syrian and Palestinian plagues!
Every day, we have to listen to Lebanese citizen asking: "Why all these afflictions hit us? Why all these disasters thrashed us? Why did Lebanon sink so low in depravity?" And as always, our truthful reply is: "Because Lebanon's politicians have not tasted the wrath of justice!
Who knows, may be time has come to enforce it!?"
At the Service of Lebanon,
the chief,
Etienne Sacre.
