No body should be allowed to use our beloved Canada as a platform to spread terrorism and hatred

The CLHRF applauds His Excellency, Our Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his federal Conservative Cabinet members for their courageous and wise decision in denying British Sheik Riyad Ul-Haq entry into Canada on the grounds that he incites racial hatred.

Mr. Harper's Government has once again practiced what it preaches in regards to taking all necessary measures to fight openly and strongly education of hatred, rejection of others and extremism that Sheik Ul-Haq advocates for. People like this man who whose views and conduct roots back to the stone ages should not be allowed under any circumstances to use our peaceful, beloved and democratic Canada as a platform to spread terrorism and hatred

At this sensitive time of heightened tensions and elevated security concerns that Canada is encountering, our CLHRF lauds the courageous stances adopted by several leaders from Canada’s diverse ethnic communities that with a great sense of responsibility have openly and courageously condemned Sheik ul-Haq’s questionable attempts to infiltrate our peaceful and tolerant communities.

On behalf of the Canadian Lebanese Human Rights Federation and the hundreds of thousands of Canadians of Lebanese descent who believe in the basic tenets of freedom, democracy and peace, we would like to extend to Mr. Harper and his Cabinet all our sincere and heartfelt thanks for keeping their promises and translating them into action.

The CLHRF fully embraces all human rights, freedoms and democracies.  Also, as Christians, we proudly wear our fundamental cloaks of peace, love and forgiveness.
